Artist: Giampietro Zanotti (1674 - 1765) Biography:
Giampietro Zanotti studied painting in Bologna, learning the Rococo style. He worked in the city for most of his career, producing classical paintings of biblical subjects. Zanotti was most famous for his writings on art subjects. His works include a biography of his painting master, a revision of Carlo Cesare Malvasia’s guidebook, “Le Pitture di Bologna,” and a book about Pellegrino Tibaldi’s paintings. In 1710, Zanotti helped found the Accademia Clementina and wrote a two-volume history of the organization in 1739.
