Biography: Pierre Garnier developing the Neoclassical style of furniture making in 1761, while most others in the trade were still working in the Rococo style. Garnier used ancient Greek architecture, patterns, and decorations for inspiration in decorating his furniture. He worked for important clients such the marquis of Marigny who commissioned Garnier to furnish his Paris house and his country chateau.
