Biography: Paul Cadmus was known for painting scenes of American life, sometimes generating scandal with his satirical undertones. Cadmus worked very slowly and meticulously, painting in egg tempera and incorporating the poses and compositions of the Old Masters. Because of this, his output as a painter was small. However, he produced a large collection of drawings.
